The Blue Circle Energy
Scholarship
The Blue Circle Energy Scholarship is offered in partnership with the Barbados Canada Foundation and provides financial support for students of Barbadian heritage to pursue a post-secondary education in environmental or renewable energy design or engineering at a Canadian university or college. All applications and communications for the Blue Circle Energy Scholarships will be handled through Barbados Canada Foundation.

$4,000 CAD (approximately $6,000 BDS) per year

Scholarship applications are accepted between May 8 and June 14, 2024 for the September 2024 enrollment

Eligibility:
-
You are eligible to apply for the Blue Circle Energy Scholarship if:
-
(A) you are a citizen of Barbados by birth or naturalization; or (B) at least one of your parents or one of your grandparents is or was a citizen of Barbados by birth or naturalization; Supporting documentation will be required on request.

You are enrolled as a full-time student at a recognized college or university in Canada which is authorized by law to grant degrees, diplomas, or certificates; and
-
On the date that you submitted your application for the Blue Circle Energy Scholarship, you were not more than 30 years of age.

Selection Criteria:

The following criteria are applied in the selection of scholarship recipients. Each criterion is weighted relative to the order listed below:

Submission Requirements:
-
A completed application. Electronic signature will be accepted.

A letter of not more than 500 words written by you, describing why you should be a recipient of the Blue Circle Energy Scholarship. Your letter must include information on:
-
your academic achievements, including schools attended and dates;
-
your community service/volunteer activities, other activities (sports/cultural); and
-
your most important accomplishments and future goals.

A letter of reference from a teacher from your high school, college or university.

A letter of reference from an individual associated with an organization where you have volunteered (e.g. church, charity, not-for-profit or community). This letter must be on the organization’s letterhead and must be from a person other than your teacher or a family member.

One passport size photo – good quality head and shoulders shot in JPG file.

If you are currently enrolled in a college or university, an up-to-date, original official transcript from the college or university you are attending, sent directly to bcfscholarships@gmail.com from the educational institution. Downloaded, unofficial transcripts will not be accepted.

Decisions:

Scholarship applications are evaluated by a panel comprised of persons who are not associated with Blue Circle Energy nor members of the board of directors of Barbados Canada Foundation.

The recipient will be notified by August 12th, 2024.

Payment:

Each scholarship grant will be paid directly to the university or college being attended by the recipient.
